Let's talk glass

I’m struggling to decide how to talk about my recent trip to Italy. How much detail do you lovely readers want? A brief recap? A detailed description of each city? Please leave me comments so I know how to proceed!

In the meantime, I have some pretties to show you. One of my necessary destinations was the island of Murano for some one-of-a-kind beads. For those of you who don’t know, Murano is one of the most famous producers of beautiful, artisanal glass in the world. You can read a little about the history and such here.

I returned from my trip with some gorgeous Murano glass just begging to become beautiful earrings and necklaces. Just so you know, I made sure every piece I bought was authentic. I’ll have a nice little variety, all available at Indie Emporium, but here’s a sneak peak. The pictures aren't all that great, but I was in a hurry to show you the goods!

Memory-wire necklace with a Murano glass pendant.

Another necklace with Murano glass pendant.

This necklace is amazing in person! The center bead is huge and – yes – is authentic Murano glass. The little aventurine beads are elegant, and everything hangs delicately on sterling silver. I love it!
Two pairs of earrings.

Liz, the winner of my last giveaway, is the first owner of some of my Murano earrings (plus a coffee scrub).

I still have a few more pieces in the works, so make sure to come by Indie Emporium on Friday and Saturday to make something yours!

And here’s a little proof that I did, indeed, visit Murano:

Happy Monday, all!

Getting crafty

With a charged camera battery, I can show you a couple of projects I made for myself lately. Both are part of a batch of things I made to send to The Felt Bird this week. First is my new Alice ring:

It's Alice with the baby that turned into a pig ("It was neither more nor less than a pig, and she felt that it would be quite absurd for her to carry it further."). It's my favorite part of the book. If you're not familiar with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, then click here to read this chapter.

The other thing I've been working on is a bunch of memory wire bracelets. Here's the one that's all mine:

I loved the bright, colorful cheeriness of these beads. They look like candy, eh? I had to add this sweet little "amore" charm I found at Hobby Lobby.

I went ahead and added an Alice ring to my store, too. Here's the little lass with her cat, Dinah, from the beginning of Through the Looking-Glass:

I'm shipping to Stela's store this week, so I'll have more pictures soon!

Hold that pot!

Great news, guys and gals: I just listed my first crocheted item! You can check out (and possibly purchase) the Green and Teal Potholder right here. Look at all those great colors:

Ooooooooo!
Ahhhhh! It folds in half so easily. :)

I plan to list more crocheted items soon, so keep your eyes open.

Fancy Pants Vance Vintage

If I had my own store, I would call it Sunshine, Rainbows, and Fancy Vance Pants or something equally ridiculous. When I decided to add a few vintage things to my Etsy shop, I clearly had to call the section Fancy Pants Vance Vintage. Today, I added a Glamour Puss Coin Purse to my store. Ain't she a beaut?

Deco to Disco, an awesome vintage clothing and accessories store in Tulsa, is going out of business in Tulsa by the end of the weekend (but its sister store, Mod 50s Modern, is remaining open). Everything is 50% off through tomorrow, and then it's all 75% off. I snatched up two armloads of goodies on my lunch break yesterday, and I'll likely head back over on Saturday to pick over what's left. The owner is shutting down because she wants to semi-retire, not because of the economy. She has two adorable pug babies to care for, and frankly, I can't blame her for that! She said she'll start setting up at the Great American Flea Market sometime soon, mainly selling accessories. Between the flea market this weekend and yesterday's exercise in non-restraint, I decided to dabble in some online vintage selling, so look for a post full of goodies and some new listings soon!

New items!

In celebration of the Tulsa World article I mentioned earlier, I'm listing three new items today! I'm giving my wonderful readers a preview of things to come -- it's almost like I'm bestowing psychic powers upon you, except they're a little limited, I suppose. Anyway, as I put the items in my shop, I'll link to them in this post. Here are the goods:

Remember me?

Oy, life and all the goodness it brings has kept me busy lately, and not in a crafty way. Luckily, I'm getting back on track. Soon I'll share with you the new stuff I've been making.

But first, I finally updated my new Etsy shop with this pair of earrings:

Like it? Love it? Need some more of it? You can buy the earrings right here.

On September 20, I'll be selling with the rest of the Tulsa Craft Mafia at Autumn Harvest. It's a benefit for Catholic Charities and will be at Bishop Kelley High School. Come by if you're in the area.

I'll be back soon. No really. I promise.

Floral design

No, I'm not becoming a florist, though that sounds like tons of fun. I've been adding new floral-inspired pieces to my shop lately. Here they are:

Metallic Flower Child Earrings

Go to my store to see them for yourself!

I posted a beautiful new necklace today called the Leaves Are Always Greener Necklace. Go check it out here!
Later this afternoon, I'll have a few more pictures for you, just for fun. Be on the look-out!

Citrus Fantasy Bracelet

My Citrus Fantasy Bracelet is now available in my store. Bask in its glory!

If it isn't purchased before the listing expires, I'm keeping it for myself! So act fast before my greedy little paws rip it from my Web site.

I will wait until after the long weekend to post more new items. If I think of it once my better half wakes up, I may post my awesome vintage finds from yesterday!

I hope you all have exciting plans for the holiday. I will be enjoying a mostly quiet, easy-going weekend. My mom's birthday is Tuesday, but we're celebrating it tomorrow with haircuts, fancy brunch, and mani/pedis. What more could I ask for in a weekend? So Happy Memorial Day Weekend, one and all!

Corny Earrings

I just added a new item to my store. Check it out:

The Me So Corny Earrings -- definitely the corniest pair you'll ever own, and I mean that in the best way possible. The little ears of corn must be seen to be believed. Get 'em quickly, though, as only one pair is available!

I have a stack of new items to add in the coming week or two, so check back often for other offerings. Because I love my blog readers oh-so-much, here's a preview of some of my favorite items that will be posted soon:

Here is pictured the Citrus Fantasy Bracelet, In Bloom Earrings, and The Leaves Are Always Greener Necklace. I'll let you know when each is available in my store!
